Every Gadget is built on the same plugin architecture, so this catalog grows over time without changing how Screens, Templates, or Devices work. Gadgets are grouped below by the audience they're most useful for — but nothing stops you from mixing and matching on your own Screen.
Universal
| Gadget | What it shows |
|---|
| Clock & Date | A large, always-current clock and date — renders locally on the device, no network needed once loaded. |
| Announcement Banner | A static message you configure — "Welcome!", "Quiet hours until 8am", anything you like. |
| Countdown to Event | A live countdown to a specific calendar event. |
| Calendar View | Upcoming events across your calendars — week, day, month, or agenda style. |
| Focus List | A filtered task list, optionally scoped to specific labels. |
| Notifications | Your recent (or unread-only) notifications. |
| Stamp | Purely decorative image or icon from the built-in stamp library or an uploaded SVG, with optional tint, size and rotation. Shows no live data. |
Family
| Gadget | What it shows |
|---|
| Routine Buttons | Today's active routine templates, shown as simple tiles. |
| Household Summary | Household inventory items, prioritizing what's low on stock or expiring soon. |
| Chore Streaks | Consecutive-day completion streaks per household member — a little friendly motivation. |
| Kids' Visual Schedule | Today's tasks and events merged into one icon-first, simplified list. |
| Assigned Today | Who's assigned to what today, at a glance. |
| Inventory Status | The stricter view of Household Summary — only items that actually need attention right now. |
Focus-friendly (ADHD-friendly)
| Gadget | What it shows |
|---|
| Next Up Only | Just the single next task or event — nothing else. Designed to reduce overwhelm. |
| Time Until Next | A plain countdown clock to whatever's next. |
| Focus Session | Your current focus session's status and elapsed time, if one is running. |
| Live Focus | Today's tasks and events merged into one vertical timeline, with priority and colour detail. It shows no clock; use Clock & Date for that. |
IT Pro
| Gadget | What it shows |
|---|
| Automation Activity | Recent automation rule executions and their status. Never shows rule secrets or webhook payloads. |
| Sync Health | Connection health for your external calendar sync accounts. Never shows tokens or credentials. |
AI & Tech
| Gadget | What it shows |
|---|
| Quick Trigger | Buttons to fire specific automation rules directly from the Screen — the one Gadget that can write, not just read. See the safety design below. |
| QR Code | A scannable QR code linking to somewhere inside your own PrimeCal deployment — e.g. a public booking page. Frequently used to link a Screen to an agent/integration entry point. |
Quick Trigger — how it stays safe on an unattended device
Quick Trigger is the only Gadget that can cause a write action, so it has extra guardrails:
- Opt-in required. An automation rule only appears as a Quick Trigger option if its owner has explicitly marked it safe for this — nothing is quick-triggerable by default.
- Confirm before firing. Tapping a rule arms a brief "tap again to confirm" state rather than firing immediately.
- Cooldown. After firing, that rule can't be fired again from that same Device for a few minutes, even if someone taps repeatedly.
- Audit trail. Every Quick Trigger fire is logged with which Device triggered it, separately from normal rule-engine or API-triggered executions.
What's not here (and why)
We deliberately don't offer a generic "embed any external website" Gadget. An unattended, publicly-visible display showing arbitrary external content is a real security and trust risk — the page could change to anything at any time, with nobody present to notice.
Coming later
A few ideas are on the roadmap but not available yet: a full calendar-grid timeline view (a week or day laid out as a true calendar grid — not the task/event list Live Focus already provides), a gentle escalating "your next thing is soon" transition-warning Gadget, a webhook-activity feed, an MCP/AI-agent activity status Gadget, weather, and an AI-generated daily summary. If you'd find one of these especially useful, let us know.
