Choosing Your Workspace

PrimeCal can start you off closer to how you actually plan to use it, and lets you keep trimming your own navigation afterward. Two separate, related features make that possible: a one-time persona choice during onboarding, and an anytime module switch list in Settings.

Both only change what you see. Neither one grants or removes access — they only decide what shows up in your own navigation. A module you hide is never deleted or revoked: anywhere it is already linked (a notification, a shared link, a bookmark) still opens it.

The Persona Choice

The first step of the onboarding wizard asks what brings you to PrimeCal, with three cards and a Skip for now option:

CardForWhat it sets up
AI Developer or Power UserConnecting Claude, Cursor, or another MCP host and managing scoped AI agentsStandard mode, the work/store notification pack, the calendar opens on Agents, and Screens starts hidden from your navigation
Family or HouseholdA shared household calendar, a wallboard view, and chore rotationFamily mode, the family notification pack, the calendar opens on the Month view, and AI Agents and Reservations start hidden
Service Studio or Solo ProTaking bookings on a public page from a calmer, focused viewPlanner mode, the work/store notification pack, the calendar opens on Reservations, and AI Agents and Screens start hidden

Picking a card is a convenience, not a commitment — every choice it makes (your experience mode, notification pack, default landing view, and which modules start hidden) can be changed afterward from Settings. Skipping the step leaves all four exactly as they would have been without this step: Standard mode, the default notification pack, your calendar as the landing view, and nothing hidden.

If a card pre-hides a module for you, the onboarding wizard's final screen names what was hidden and reminds you it can be brought back from Settings → Modules — see below.

Settings → Modules

Open Profile → Modules to see a switch for every module you are currently entitled to:

  • AI Agents (MCP)
  • Screens
  • Reservations
  • Automation
  • External Sync
  • Routines
  • Personal Logs

Only modules your plan and permissions actually allow appear in this list at all — a module you are not entitled to is never shown here, and turning a switch on never grants access to something your plan doesn't include. Turning a switch off hides that module from your own navigation (and, for Routines, from the Tasks tab bar); turning it back on brings it straight back. The change is immediate and takes effect the next time your navigation renders.

How This Differs From Experience Modes

An Experience Mode is a bundled, named layout — switching modes changes several things at once (which views are on offer, how dense the grid is, whether dragging is allowed) and is meant to be swapped as your situation changes.

Hiding a module is a single, standing preference layered on top of whichever mode you are in: it survives a mode switch, and it only ever removes one item from the navigation, never a whole layout.

Best Practices

  • Pick a persona card if one matches you — it saves a few trips to Settings, and nothing it sets is permanent.
  • If you skip the persona step, nothing changes: you can still visit Settings → Modules any time to tidy your own navigation.
  • Hide a module you don't use yet rather than asking for it to be removed from your plan — it stays available the moment you need it.
  • If a teammate reports a module "disappeared," check Settings → Modules before assuming an entitlement problem — it is almost always a display preference, same as checking a locked feature next.
