Google Sync Problems

Google Calendar sync connects your Google account so that events from Google appear in PrimeCal, and optionally vice-versa. Most sync problems fall into one of four categories: connection lost, wrong permissions, events not appearing, or duplicates.

Connection Lost or "Not Connected"

If PrimeCal shows your Google sync as disconnected:

  1. Go to External Sync in the PrimeCal navigation (under More on mobile)
  2. Find your Google account in the connected accounts list
  3. Click Reconnect to restart the OAuth flow
  4. Sign in with your Google account and approve the requested permissions

Google OAuth tokens expire over time. If you haven't synced in a while, a reconnect is the normal fix.

tip

If you manage multiple Google accounts, make sure you select the correct one during the reconnect flow. Chrome's Google account switcher can sometimes default to the wrong account.

Events Not Appearing in PrimeCal

If your Google events aren't showing up:

Check the sync settings:

  • In External Sync, confirm which Google calendars are enabled for sync
  • "My Calendar" and other sub-calendars under your Google account must be individually enabled if you want them to appear
  • Newly created Google calendars won't be auto-synced — you'll need to enable them in the sync settings

Trigger a manual sync:

  • In External Sync, click Sync Now on your Google account to force an immediate refresh
  • Sync normally runs on a schedule; a manual sync lets you pull updates without waiting

Check the calendar filter:

  • In PrimeCal's calendar list (left sidebar), confirm the synced Google calendar is not hidden (unchecked)
  • If the calendar is checked but events still don't appear, check the date range — you may be looking at a period before the sync start date

Events Not Syncing Back to Google

PrimeCal sync is one-directional by default — it imports from Google into PrimeCal. Changes made in PrimeCal are not automatically pushed back to Google unless bidirectional sync is configured.

Check your sync direction setting in External Sync to confirm what is expected.

Duplicate Events

Duplicates typically happen when:

  • You added an event manually in PrimeCal that also came in via sync
  • Sync was disconnected and reconnected, and some events were re-imported

To fix:

  1. Delete the manually-created duplicate in PrimeCal (keep the synced version so it stays linked to Google)
  2. If duplicates are widespread, contact support — it may be a sync timing issue

Google Authorization Was Revoked

Google allows you to revoke app access from myaccount.google.com/permissions. If you revoked PrimeCal access there, sync will stop working until you reconnect.

To reconnect: follow the Connection Lost steps above.

Still Stuck?

  • Check OAuth Issues if the connection process itself is failing
  • For event-level data issues, check the sync configuration to confirm which calendars and date ranges are enabled
  • Contact support via Support Contact with a description of what you see vs. what you expect
