Planner Mode
Planner Mode is for people whose calendar is full. The calendar opens on the work week — Monday to Friday — and the hours are drawn closer together, so more of the day fits on screen without scrolling.
Nothing is hidden. Planner has every feature Standard Mode has: Automation, External Sync, AI Agents, calendar groups, People, and sharing. What changes is how the calendar is laid out.
What Changes In Planner Mode
- The calendar opens on the work week. Monday to Friday, whichever day your week starts on. The other views are still one click away: Day, Week, Month, Agenda, 3 days, and Now.
- A tighter grid. An hour is 48 pixels tall instead of 60, so a working day of about 12 hours fits on a laptop screen. Short events still show their title; longer ones show their time and place as well.
- Weeks are numbered. The ISO week number ("W11") sits above the hours, and the Month view has a column of them beside its rows. Turn them off in the options menu (⋯) under Week numbers — see Calendar Views.
- The calendar decides where it opens. The Default view choice in the calendar's options menu (⋯) is hidden, because Planner always opens on the work week. It comes back when you return to Standard.
Creating, moving, and resizing events works exactly as it does everywhere else — see Calendar Views and Creating Events.
How To Switch To Planner Mode
Open the mode selector pill in the header (or Profile → Experience) and choose Planner. The switch is instant — no PIN required. If the calendar is open, it moves to the work week.
Tips For Planner Mode Users
- Learn the view keys — 5 for the work week, W for the whole week, D for a single day — see Search & Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Drag down a column to pick a time and name the event right there; the quick-create card keeps your title if you open the full editor.
- Use the filter menu to show only the labels you are planning around.
- Add a second time zone beside the hours (options menu → Second time zone) when you work across zones — see Calendar Views.
- Need a gap for a meeting? Find a time in the arrow beside Quick add lists the next free slots of the length you choose — see Creating Events.
- If the grid feels too tight, choose a roomier Density in the calendar's options menu (⋯) — see Calendar Views — or switch to Standard Mode, which uses the regular scale.
