Answering an Invitation

Someone can invite you to a people group - a family, a team, a club - so you can share calendars with each other. If they are on a plan with seats (Family and up), they can also add you to their plan in the same step, so you use its features as part of their subscription.

You do not need a paid plan to say yes. A Free account can accept an invitation from a Family account; what a plan decides is whether you can create and run people groups yourself (see what each plan allows).

Where you are asked

You never have to hunt for an invitation. PrimeCal asks you in several places, and all of them show the same two buttons.

  1. The first time you open PrimeCal after being invited, a popup asks right away: who invited you, what to, any note they wrote, and Accept or Decline. If several invitations are waiting you see them all in one popup.
  2. In an email from PrimeCal with an Accept invitation button (or Create account and accept, if the address has no account yet) and a Decline link. The email opens the Invitations page with the answer you picked ready - one more tap.
  3. On the Invitations page (/app/invitations), which lists everything waiting for an answer.
  4. In People, on the calendar: open People → Manage and the invitations waiting for you are listed first, under Waiting for your answer.
  5. In your notifications: tapping the invitation's row opens the Invitations page.

Accept or decline

  • Accept joins the group - the calendars it shares appear in your calendar list - and, if a seat on the sender's plan came with the invitation, puts you on their plan. You are told what happened: "You joined "Family" and Peter's plan."
  • Decline says no. Nothing is joined, any seat held for you is released, and the sender is told. If you change your mind, ask them to invite you again.

One tap each. There is nothing to type and no payment step: accepting is free for you.

remarque

The email links never answer for you. They take you to the invitation with your chosen answer ready, so a mail scanner that opens a link, or a mis-tap on your phone, cannot accept or decline anything on its own.

Decide later

Not sure yet? Choose Decide later on the popup (or press Esc). The popup will not come back in that browser tab, but the invitation stays: it waits on the Invitations page and in People, and the popup asks again the next time you open PrimeCal in a new tab.

Invitations that nobody answers expire: a group invitation 14 days after it was sent, a plan seat sent on its own after 7. If yours has run out, ask the sender to send a new one.

What accepting gives you

  • A group: you are a member. You see the calendars shared with it, at the permission the owner chose, and can leave at any time (open the group in People, then ⋯ → Leave group). A group's owner cannot leave it; they delete it instead.
  • A seat on their plan: your account gets the features of the sender's plan for as long as they keep the seat and their subscription. Your account stays your own - your own calendars, tasks and data, with nothing merged. If the sender removes the seat, or their subscription ends, you fall back to your own plan. See Seats.

If you have no account yet

The email's button reads Create account and accept. It opens PrimeCal's sign-up with your email address already filled in. Make an account with that address and the invitation is waiting for you the first time the app opens - no code to copy. An account is free.

If you do not want to join, ignore the email: there is nothing to cancel, and it expires by itself.
