Kid Mode

Kid Mode is a safe, simplified view for children ages 4-8.

For Parents And Guardians​

How To Enable Kid Mode​

  1. Open the mode selector pill in the header (or Profile → Experience).
  2. Choose Kid Mode.
  3. The first time you activate it, you'll be asked to set a PIN — see PIN Best Practices below.

Kid Mode shows a small lock icon next to it in the mode selector, since exiting requires the PIN once it's set.

What Your Child Can See​

  • Today's calendar events, in a simplified week strip with large, colorful cards.
  • A short list of upcoming events, described in friendly terms ("Tomorrow!", "In 2 days") instead of raw dates.
  • A simple to-do list — task titles, a due date if there is one, and a checkbox.

What Your Child Cannot Do​

  • Create, edit, or delete events or calendars.
  • Create or edit tasks — only mark an existing task as done.
  • See event descriptions, notes, or other event details beyond the title, time, and calendar.
  • Reach Search, notifications, the More menu, Settings, or any other part of PrimeCal — the Kid Mode shell replaces the normal navigation entirely.
  • Follow external links — none are rendered in Kid Mode.

How To Exit Kid Mode​

Tap Back to grown-up view at the bottom of the Kid Mode shell and enter the PIN. A correct PIN returns you to Production Mode immediately.

PIN Best Practices​

  • Use a PIN your child cannot guess. Avoid birthdays or the same digits repeated.
  • Change it if your child learns it.
  • Treat it as "hard for a small child to guess," not as a secret from every adult — anyone holding the device could see you type it.

What Happens On Too Many Wrong PIN Attempts​

PrimeCal slows down repeated incorrect attempts automatically, and locks PIN entry for 5 minutes after 5 wrong attempts in a row. You'll also get an email at your account's address so you know it happened.

For Kids (Read This Together)​

What you will see: your calendar with today's events, and your to-do list.

You can see events, but you can't change them. A grown-up needs to do that.

Checking off a task is the fun part — tap the circle next to a task when you finish it, and it moves down to "Things I did."

Best Practices​

  • Enable Kid Mode on a shared family device, not on a child's own device with a separate account.
  • Review the calendar events visible to your child before handing them the device.
  • Kid Mode is a UI restriction. It does not create a separate account or separate data space — your child sees a simplified view of the same calendar and tasks you do.
