Skins & Appearance

Skins change how PrimeCal looks — colors, fonts, and spacing — without changing what you can do.

Current Available Skins

  • Default — the standard PrimeCal look. No overrides.
  • Comfort — larger text and firmer lines, easier to read at a glance or with low vision. The whole app scales together, the same as your browser's text zoom, and lines and secondary text are drawn a step darker. The size steps up with the screen — a step larger than usual on a phone, more on a tablet or small laptop, the most on a large screen — so the date and the controls always have room. Simple Mode starts from it, and you can choose it in any mode.
  • Kid — a bright, high-contrast, extra-large-touch-target skin, applied automatically when Kid Mode is active.

More skins are planned for a future release: teenagers, professionals, ADHD-friendly, and shared family screens. This page will be updated when they ship.

How To Change Your Skin

  1. Go to Profile → Experience.
  2. Choose a skin from the Appearance dropdown.

The Kid skin is not in the list: it belongs to Kid Mode and is applied and removed with it.

How Skins And Modes Interact

A Skin changes the look. A Mode changes the features. You can mix any Skin with any Mode — choosing Focus mode doesn't require a particular skin, and choosing a skin doesn't switch your mode.

Two modes do start from a skin of their own, and hand it back when you leave:

  • Kid Mode always uses the Kid skin.
  • Simple Mode starts from Comfort when you enter it with the Default look. If you would rather keep the regular text size, choose Default under Appearance while in Simple Mode and it stays that way. If you had already chosen a skin of your own, Simple Mode leaves it alone.

Best Practices

  • If a Skin feels visually busy while you're trying to concentrate, pair it with Focus Mode — the two solve different problems together.
  • Try Comfort in any mode if the regular text is hard to read — it does not need Simple Mode.
  • The Kid skin is tied to Kid Mode automatically; you don't need to select it by hand.
