Templates And Sharing
A Screen Template stores a layout — canvas size, wallpaper theme, and gadget positions/configuration — with zero live data. Applying a Template to a Screen always shows your data, never the data of whoever originally created it.
Built-in system Templates
PrimeCal ships with a small starter library you can use right away:
- Family Wallboard — a household-at-a-glance layout: clock, month calendar, chore streaks, household summary, notifications.
- Team Standup Board — a meeting-room layout: clock, agenda view, recent automation activity, sync health.
- Focus Today — a calm, single-task-at-a-time layout for a desk monitor.
From the Templates tab, click Apply to a Screen on any of these to create a new Screen from it, or apply it onto an existing Screen (which replaces that Screen's current gadget layout).
Saving your own layout as a Template
From a Screen's editor, click Save as Template. This makes a personal Template you can reapply later or hand off to a new Screen — it never affects the original Screen.
Cloning a Template
System Templates and Templates shared with your group are read-only starting points. Click Clone to make your own editable copy, which you're then free to customize.
Sharing with a group (Pro and above)
If you're on a Pro plan or above, saving a Template can include a People Group — anyone in that group can then see and apply it, without ever seeing your live calendar/task data (Templates never carry live data, only layout and filter configuration).
Filters that reference specific data (like "tasks with this label") are cleared to "no filter" when a Template crosses from one person to another — the layout comes across, but a filter tied to your personal label IDs wouldn't mean anything for someone else's account.
Admin Guide
Organisation-owned Screens (for example, a shared lobby or meeting-room wallboard) follow PrimeCal's existing organisation membership and role model — the same permission checks used elsewhere for organisation-scoped resources apply here too. There is no separate Screens-specific admin console; Screen, Template, and Device changes are recorded in the same audit trail as other account activity, reviewable through your organisation's existing audit history.
