Smart Rescheduling
Smart rescheduling moves a booking out of the way when you place something else on top of it. It never moves anything without asking, always shows exactly what it will do first, and gives you one Undo for the whole change.
Mark what is allowed to move
A booking only ever moves if you have said it may.
- One booking: open it and tick Allow automatic rescheduling.
- Everything from a synced calendar: in the sync panel, switch on the same option for that calendar. It applies to items imported from now on. Items already imported keep their own setting.
- By rule: an automation can use the Set reschedulable action, and the Rescheduled trigger fires when something has been moved.
All-day items never move and never block a move.
What happens when you place something on top
When you create, drag or resize a booking so that it overlaps a movable one on ANY calendar you can see (not only the same calendar), a dialog shows the proposed moves, for example Standup 10:00 to 11:00. Choose Move to apply them, or Leave as it is to keep the overlap. After applying, Undo puts everything back.
If the moves would not fit, you are told why (a fixed booking is in the way, no free slot was found in your search window, and so on) and nothing changes.
Someone else's booking
If the movable booking belongs to someone else on a shared calendar, nothing moves on the spot. They receive a notification, and when they open it they get their own proposal, calculated with their working hours and settings.
Your settings (Profile)
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Working hours | Set per weekday (for example Monday 09:00 to 17:00, Saturday off). Moved bookings are only placed inside these hours. If you set nothing, every hour counts. |
| How to move | Ask me each time shows two choices. Put it right after pushes anything it lands on. First free gap finds the first gap that fits. Move only the one it overlaps refuses if that slot is taken. |
| Round start times up | Rounds a moved start later, never earlier. Every 10 minutes from the hour: 13:43 becomes 13:50. Clock boundaries every 15 minutes: 13:43 becomes 13:45. |
| Search window | How far ahead a free slot may be looked for. By default, the rest of the same day. |
For integrators
The calendar uses POST /api/events/:id/reschedule-plan, POST /api/events/reschedule-apply, POST /api/events/reschedule-undo and POST /api/events/:id/reschedule-notify. A plan comes with a signed token: send the moves back exactly as received. Working hours live at GET/PUT /api/user/working-hours. AI agents can use the primecal_calendars_events_reschedule_plan and ..._apply tools; they never see Google-synced items unless the agent was granted that access.
Good to know
- A series is never moved as a whole. Only a single occurrence moves.
- Times around the clock change in autumn are handled carefully: a slot inside the repeated hour is refused rather than guessed.
- The dialog has a button that is disabled while it works, so a double click cannot apply a move twice.
